Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood Education

This program prepares candidates interested in working with young children ages 2 ½ through 8 years in private schools and other educational environments. The Early Childhood Education major meets NAEYC accreditation standards and Hawaii state registry requirements for ECE. Prior to taking any early childhood courses, it is required that the student take the one-credit ED 101 Introduction to Chaminade Early Childhood Education course.

  • Pre-Major Requirements: PSY 202, ED 101, ED 215, ED 217, ED 233.

  • Major-Requirements: ED 222, ED 413, ED 433, ED 434, ED 471, ED 473, ED 474, ED 479, ED 419A, ED 491B, and ED 498A and ED 498B

  • Note: Fieldwork experience and Seminar must begin within two terms of the last major requirement course completion. ED 491A and ED 498A must be taken concurrently in the winter or summer term, and ED 491B and 498B taken in the following spring or fall term.
