Program Advisors: Timothy Carney, D.M.A., Allison Paynter, Ph.D., and Christopher Patrinos, M.F.A

The Department of Performing Arts is an intellectual and artistic center at Chaminade University for faculty and students interested in the exploration of the historical, literary, aesthetic, and performative components of Theatre and Music.

Theatre curriculum includes but is not limited to theatre history, acting, directing, playwriting, performance studies and design.  Music curriculum includes history, theory and individual instruction as well as performance opportunities in University Chorus, Hawaii Vocal Arts Ensemble and the Oahu Civic Orchestra.

Across the academic year, the department programs a number of diverse faculty and student sponsored academic and community events. These events include conversations, performances, workshops, film screenings, and lectures around current research, ideas and issues in theatre, performance studies and music. Annual performance opportunities include plays, musical theatre, recitals, and choral concerts.
